Client Spotlight: Livermore Valley Wine Country - and the Importance of Press Trips
Livermore Valley Wine Country is one of the oldest wine regions in the United States. In fact, it is the birthplace of California's two most famous varietals. Today, over 80% of California’s cabernet sauvignon and 75% of its chardonnay are descendants of vines that were planted in the region in the late 1800s. Despite this rich history, Livermore Valley Wine Country isn’t widely known. And that is where we come in.
Since starting our work with Livermore, one of our primary strategies for the region has been sending writers on press trips to the region. We felt strongly that we could transform the media coverage by getting writers to meet the winemakers, see the beautiful rolling hills and vineyards and - of course - taste the wine. And it worked. Enveloping the press in this magical region has not only has this resulted in glowing coverage in Forbes, The Vintner Project, San Francisco Magazine, Maxim, SOMM TV, Wine Enthusiast, BestWineries.com and more but time after time the media say it is the best press trip they have ever been on.
And we know why after visiting the region for ourselves during their annual TASTE: The Livermore Valley Wine Experience weekend. Four days full of wine tastings, hikes among the vines, wine and food pairings and exclusive dinners all hosted by the over 40 wineries in Livermore Valley Wine Community. We hosted the media, met the winemakers - and - tasted ALL of the wine. We were struck by the camaraderie of this community and cannot wait to visit again.
