Three Ways to Generate PR for Vacation Rentals Companies
Tess and I have a passion for the vacation rental (VR) industry - both from a professional and personal standpoint. Tess worked the vacation rental arm of TripAdvisor and I have two vacation rentals of my own (side hustle!). We’re both big fans of TurnKey, HomeToGo, AvantStay, Golightly and Evolve.
With so many vacation rental companies out there, how do you break through the noise and make a name for yourself? Here are our top three recommendations to drive brand awareness and increase SEO for VRs.
Create news via your internal data by looking at the trends you’re seeing in your bookings. Have they increased month over month in a particular area? Or with the work-from-anywhere trend, are you seeing a high rate of bookings on homes with offices? Once you have the data and story formulated, utilize it to pitch the media to help drive stories and get brand mentions and links to your website.
Do “Listicle” style outreach that focuses on your top 2-3 topics/locations per month (time dependent, of course). For example, create a list of the top beaches in Florida based on your rental inventory and highest rental rates. Pitch the lists to local media and Chambers of Commerce to get high domain authority links pointing back to your website.
Think about seasonal storytelling so you can authentically insert your brand into the news. What stories can you predict that will appear in the news cycle in the next few months and how are you uniquely positioned to provide data and resources for those stories?
